Barely twenty days after the UN General Assembly voted for the establishment of two states, and one month before the arrival of the first ALA fighters opposed to a Jewish state, Ben-Gurion provided the Haganah with rules of engagement, according to which any attack would result in the material or human destruction of the premises.
