Quotation from David Ben Gourion “Ce n’est pas pour établir la paix dans le pays que nous avons besoin d’un accord” — June 9 1936

Dans une lettre à l’exécutif de l’Agence Juive, explique sa notion de la « paix », une trève en vue d’une nouvelle guerre.

" Ce n’est pas pour établir la paix dans le pays que nous avons besoin d’un accord. La paix est en fait vitale pour nous. On ne peut pas construire un pays dans un état de guerre permanente, mais la paix n’est pour nous qu’un moyen. La fin est la réalisation pleine et complète du sionisme. Nous n’avons besoin d’un accord que pour cela. "
" We don't need agreement with the Arabs in order to keep the peace in Palestine. Peace is, without doubt, extremely important to us. You cannot build a country in a state of permanent war. But for us peace is a means to an end. Our end is the full realization of Zionism. That is the only reason we need peace. The Jewish people will not agree, nor should we, to a peace agreement that is not directed to that end. "
