[wrong] Words attributed to Friedrich von Hohenzollern “It can't be carried out with Jews” — Nov. 1899
Apocryphal or wrong quotation or doubtful.
- Friedrich von Hohenzollern (Wilhelm II) (1859-1941) ( 1 quotation )
The Kaiser remarked afterwards that Zionism was a great idea, but that "it can't be carried out with Jews"
The quotation was given by Uri Avnery in his text Wagner at the memorial of May 2005, but it is the transformation of a joke into an imaginary quotation: On April 17, 1899, Theodor Herzl wrote (English version) : « The following joke is making the rounds in Vienna now. The German Kaiser is supposed to have said to me: ‘Zionism is a splendid idea; the only thing is, it can't be carried out with Jews. ‘
