Amy Goodman : Votre voix est une voix critique qu’on entend pas souvent ici aux USA. Souvent quand on critique la politique israélienne on est qualifié d’antisémite. Que répondez-vous à cela en tant que juive israélienne ?

Shulamit Aloni : C’est une combine que nous utilisons toujours. Quand quelqu’un en Europe critique Israël, alors nous sortons l’ « holocauste ». Quand les gens de ce pays (USA) critiquent Israël, alors ils sont « antisémites ». Les organisations [sionistes] sont fortes, elles ont beaucoup d’argent. Les relations entre Israël et l’establishment juif aux USA sont très fortes, et elles sont fortes dans ce pays, comme vous savez. Et ils ont du pouvoir, c’est OK. Ils ont des gens doués, de la puissance, de l’argent et les médias et d’autres choses. Leur attitude est l’identification « Israël, mon pays, raison ou pas ». Et ils ne sont pas disposés à entendre des critiques. Et c’est très facile de blamer les gens qui critiquent certains actes du gouvernement israélien, de les étiquetter comme « antisémites » et d’évoquer l’holocauste et la souffrance du peuple juif. Ceci justifie tout ce qu’on fait aux Palestiniens.

Amy Goodman : Your voice is a voice of criticism we don't often hear in the United States. Often when there is dissent expressed against policies of the Israeli government, people here are called anti-semitic. What is your response to that as an Israeli Jew?

Shulamit Aloni : Well, it’s a trick, we always use it. When from Europe somebody is criticizing Israel, then we bring up the Holocaust. When in this country people are criticizing Israel, then they are anti-Semitic. And the organization is strong, and has a lot of money, and the ties between Israel and the American Jewish establishment are very strong and they are strong in this country, as you know. And they have power, which is okay. They are talented people and they have power and money, and the media and other things, and their attitude is “Israel, my country right or wrong,” identification. And they are not ready to hear criticism. And it’s very easy to blame people who criticize certain acts of the Israeli government as anti-Semitic, and to bring up the Holocaust, and the suffering of the Jewish people, and that is to justify everything we do to the Palestinians.”
